Director of Print Production and Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Print Production and Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and success of the Production department – alongside SeQuel’s CFO. This individual should provide exceptional leadership, direction, and communication to the company representatives, vendors, and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enhance and manage a broad list of print, lettershop and paper supplier partnerships that will deliver loyalty, competitive pricing, reliable execution, and a competitive advantage for SeQue This includes:

    • Working closely with CFO to maintain healthy print vendor diversification
    • Negotiating and facilitating vendor contracts, pricing, rebate programs, payment terms, ect.
    • Leading our annual vendor review process
    • Ensuring a competitive triple bid process on all direct mail campaigns
    • Act as primary liaison with strategic paper suppliers for executing/negotiating paper rebate program
    • Lead detailed monthly reviews of print production profitability at campaign and client level with CFO/finance team
    • Oversee SeQuel’s Quality Control program
    • Optimize the purchasing department processes and procedures to drive efficiency, profitability and effectiveness

Lead a multi-discipline print production team. This includes:        

    • Coordinating and leading department meetings
    • Holding regular one on one’s and annual performance reviews for direct reports to support and/or address any training or improvement opportunities, along with all hiring and termination of department personnel
    • Documenting and addressing any quality issues that may occur and making the appropriate changes to the procedures to prevent from reoccurrence
    • Supporting company-wide initiatives through print production team
    • Keeping SeQuel’s internal control internal control library up to date with price increases and format updates

Directly responsible for production execution for approximately 25% of SeQuel direct mail campaigns. This includes:

    • Creating package/campaign estimates for Marketing Strategists and negotiating pricing as needed
    • Generate lettershop/print matrices to assist vendors in execution – provide component codes for material and inventory tracking
    • Generate PO’s for all production needs, verify all vendor invoices against PO’s; verify against budget/proposals and campaign plans
    • Review package formats and provide manufacturing guidance as needed
    • Responsible for press checks as needed

Complete any additional duties/responsibilities deemed appropriate by the senior management team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:

Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience

Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years purchasing work experience to include production execution and managing supplier partnerships
